Most rings are made with stretch cord. It is important that the ring fit comfortably. If it cuts into the skin it will not be comfortable to wear and may not last as long. The sizes are approximations of standard U.S. ring sizes, if you are specific about which finger you plan to wear it on, than you may want to chose a ring that fits just a little looser than a standard metal ring.
